Huka Falls Cruise – again locally owned and operated so you will get a truly local experience as you cruise up the river – stop at the bottom of the renowned Huka Falls a great photo opportunity
Huka Falls and Aratiatia Dam release – these falls release every day at 10 am 12 noon and 2.30 pm – both are only a short drive from the Motel and an enjoyable experience
Craters of the Moon – just over 5 kms from Town is this unique and memorable experience - a geothermal walkway ( takes about 45 minutes) Along with elevated viewing platforms you will see plants that have adapted to survive in these very hot and steamy conditions.
A must see is the Mine Bay Maori Carvings – take a day or an evening cruise on the very popular Ernest Kemp
Wairakei Thermal Pools – these natural mineral pools have to be the best way to relax either just because you can or the way to wind down after spending time doing one of the more adrenalin junkie activities (Grab One regularly has deals on entry fee so please check with us first). Soak away any aching bones or just relax for a few hours – choose your own temperature by moving from pool to pool. We offer our guests bath towels to take with them.
Lava Glass – an incredible collection of glass items on display – a great place to buy something special as a gift or to take home with you.
Trout Fishing – we have a range of great Fishing Operators who will take you out on the lake and experience the chance to catch a Rainbow or Brown Trout. If time permits we will smoke and pack your trout for you or enjoy it whilst here for your evening meal.
